Blanco Flatbread Recipe

Normally, we think of "cheese pizza" as just for kids. You know, it's the pizza that you only order enough of to satisfy the youngest eaters in the household and then, try to fulfill the rest of the order with "real pizza." You’ll change your mind after one taste of this Blanco Flatbread. It's all of the goodness of gourmet cheeses from your charcuterie board, except in melty, gooey deliciousness on the perfect flatbread dough.

We serve this Flatbread in the Burklee Hill Vineyards tasting room. We won’t be releasing all of our recipes, but this one is such a special treat! So, if you go through the effort of creating this at home... well, you deserve it. If you live in the Lubbock/Levelland areas, you can always just stop in to try it yourself in our tasting room.

First, you have to make the Flatbread Dough, which you can find our recipe here. It makes 2 flatbreads that will serve 2-3 people, so double all of the recipes for 4-6 to enjoy. We've provided the below directions to make 4 flatbreads, so increase or decrease as necessary. This is seriously the best flatbread dough, but there is zero judgment for picking up some dough or ready-made crust for a quick weeknight dinner.

Second, you make the honey goat cheese spread.

Honey Goat Cheese Spread

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 8 oz. cream cheese

  • 4 oz. goat cheese

Directions: blend together in a bowl with a mixer.

The amazing part of this Honey Goat Cheese Spread is you can mix it up for so many potential, delicious recipes, like enjoying it as a dip with crackers with drizzled olive or truffle oil.

Ingredients:

  • 8 tbsp. olive oil (2 tbsp. per flatbread)

  • drizzle of white truffle oil

  • 4 oz. goat cheese

  • 4 oz. mozzarella

  • 4 oz. feta cheese

  • garnish of microgreens

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees

  • After combining Honey Goat Cheese Spread and cooking flatbread, drizzle olive oil over flatbread.

  • Smear Honey Goat Cheese Spread across the flatbread (keep any extra spread for   dipping crackers later)

  • Sprinkle additional goat cheese, mozzarella, and feta cheese

  • Cook at 425 degrees directly on oven rack for 6-8 minutes or until outer edges of crust are golden brown and cheese is bubbly

  • Drizzle white truffle oil and garnish with micro-greens

The truffle oil is really key. It's what brings all the different white cheeses together in the most incredible way. It's what makes the Blanco Pizza more than just any other ordinary cheese pizza and transforms it to a gourmet delight. We recommend pairing this Flatbread with a bold red wine. We recommend the Tempranillo or a rich Bourdeaux blend, like the FM 303. As always, choose the wine that you believe pairs best! Enjoy and cheers!
